Training
  Kent Hygiene Solutions are a Royal Institute of Public Health (RIPH) and a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) registered training centre and are able to offer the full range of food hygiene and health and safety courses. All our trainers are practicing environmental health professionals with current experience of industry and or enforcement and as such can bring a unique perspective to this type of training.
The titles of CIEH & RIPH courses have changed recently - confusing for those used to basic, intermediate and advanced. The system now begins with level one courses which are equivalent to induction training and are generally 2-3 hours in length, level 2 are the equivalent of the old basic or foundation courses. Level 3 are intermediate standard and level 4 are advanced. Please call if you need further clarification.
We can also offer bespoke training and PC based training - please call for further information. We can either offer courses run at our own training centres or we can undertake training "on-site" to your requirements.

Food hygiene training can be fun l but it is also a legal requirement and food businesses can be fined for not training their staff, recently a fish and chip shop in Lewisham was fined £2000 plus over £1000 costs for not training it's food handlers. See our News page for more details.

Food Safety:
- CIEH Level 1 Award in Food Safety awareness in Catering
- CIEH Level 1 Award in Food Safety Awareness for Retail
- CIEH Level 1 Award in Food Safety Induction for manufacturing
These three new courses focuses on the information employees require before they start working in a food environment - that is keeping clean and hygienic, keeping work areas clean and reducing contamination. All three courses require a minimum of 3 hours training followed by 15 question multiple choice test.

- CIEH Level 2 Awards in Food Safety in Catering
- CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Retail
- CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Manufacturing
These courses replace the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene. Designed for all those working in the food industry and will provide an understanding of the importance of food safety and knowledge of the systems and procedures involved. All three courses require a minimum of 6 hours training followed by a 30 question multiple choice test.

- CIEH Level 2 Award in Healthier Food & Special Diets
Provides the tools to help caterers grasp the fundamental principles of nutrition. Designed for all those involved in menu planning and will provide a knowledge of the fundamental principles of nutrition. A one day course with a multiple choice test.

- CIEH Level 3 Award in HACCP for Food Manufacturing
Enables managers and supervisors to implement a realistic system of hazard analysis. Designed for managers and supervisors. Provides knowledge of the requirements of current legislation by putting in place workable systems of hazard analysis. A two day course with a case study based assignment.

- CIEH Level 3 Award in Implementing Food Safety Management Procedures
Helps owners and managers of small- and medium-sized catering and hospitality businesses put in place a documented food safety management system based on HACCP principles.. Invaluable help for businesses attempting to introduce the Food Standards Agency's "Safer Food Better Business" scheme. A one day course with a assessment by a short answer case study.

- CIEH Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Supervising Catering
- CIEH Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Supervision for Retail
- CIEH Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Supervision for Manufacturing
A set of new and completely revised qualifications to replace the CIEH Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety: Suitable for managers and supervisors. And will provide knowledge and confidence to implement and supervise others in a food safety management system. A 3 day course with a multiple choice test.

- CIEH Level 4 Awards in Managing Food Safety in Catering
- CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Manufacturing
The replacement for the Advanced Certificate in Food safety this course is for food business owners to trainers, from production managers to hygiene auditors, these sector specific qualifications meet industry's need for a high level practical qualification with external accreditation.

 CIEH Principles of Manual Handling
Enables employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks. A half day course with a multiple choice test.

Prepares employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances. A half day course with a multiple choice test.

- CIEH Intermediate Certificate in Supervising Health and Safety
Examines health and safety from a supervisory perspective. A three day course with multiple choice test.

- CIEH Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment Principles and Practice
Enables supervisors and managers to carry out risk assessments. A one day programme with an assignment and self evaluation

- CIEH Advanced Certificate in Health & Safety in the Workplace
Enables managers, supervisors and senior safety personnel to manage health and safety in most workplaces. A five day course with two assignments and an examination.
Price on application
All on site training prices include the services of an professionally qualified trainer (normally environmental health)with experience of working in your industry or enforcement and all materials. It does not include refreshments and where necessary VAT. For some courses there may be a small charge for travelling and if necessary overnight accomodation.
